Pokémon Randomizer Run Planner

A Pokémon randomizer replaces fixed game encounters with random ones — every wild Pokémon, starter, and trainer team gets shuffled. This tool lets you simulate that experience on the web. Select your game above, then spin to see what random encounters from that generation's pool might look like.

Use the Team button to generate a full 6-Pokémon mock team. This is a fast way to preview a randomized run before committing to it, or to plan a team for a Nuzlocke randomizer challenge. Export to Pokémon Showdown to test the team before your run.

How to Simulate a Randomizer Run

  1. 1.Pick your game — select a generation matching the ROM you're randomizing. The pool narrows to that generation's Pokémon.
  2. 2.Set your randomizer options — open Filters to toggle legendaries, mythicals, and fully evolved only. Match these to your randomizer tool settings.
  3. 3.Spin or generate a team — click SPIN for one random encounter, or click Team to generate a full mock team instantly.
  4. 4.Export to Showdown — click Copy Showdown to paste your randomizer team into Pokémon Showdown and test it before your run.

Popular Randomizer Games by Generation

Gen 3 Randomizer (Ruby / Sapphire / Emerald)

The most popular generation for randomizer runs. Large Pokédex, balanced encounter rates, and a long main story make Gen 3 ideal for randomized playthroughs.

Gen 5 Randomizer (Black / White)

Gen 5 is a favorite for randomizers due to its diverse encounter pool and story-driven pacing. Black 2 / White 2 are popular for randomized challenge runs.

Gen 1 Randomizer (Red / Blue / Yellow)

The classic. Randomizing Gen 1 shakes up the original 151 Pokémon and produces chaotic, memorable run results. FireRed and LeafGreen are also popular choices.

Gen 4 Randomizer (Diamond / Pearl / Platinum)

Platinum is the most common Gen 4 randomizer pick. A large Pokédex and diverse type coverage make randomized Sinnoh runs unpredictable and fun.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Pokémon randomizer?

A Pokémon randomizer is a tool — typically applied to a game ROM — that replaces fixed Pokémon encounters with random ones. Every wild encounter, starter, and trainer team gets shuffled. This randomizer lets you simulate what those random encounters might look like, organized by game generation.

Which generation should I pick?

Match it to the game you're randomizing. Gen 1 covers Red, Blue, and Yellow (and FireRed/LeafGreen). Gen 3 covers Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald — the most popular games for randomizer runs. Gen 5 (Black/White) is popular for its large encounter pool and diverse Pokémon roster.

How do I simulate randomized encounters?

Select your game generation above, then click SPIN to see a random Pokémon from that generation's pool. Use the Team button to generate a full mock team of 6 — this gives you a preview of what a randomized playthrough team might look like.

Can I use this to plan a Nuzlocke randomizer run?

Yes. Filter to your game's generation, then enable "Fully Evolved Only" in Filters to simulate encounter pools with evolved Pokémon. Spin to decide your starter or to make Nuzlocke encounter decisions. Export your planned team to Pokémon Showdown to test it before your run.

Can I exclude legendaries from the randomizer?

Yes. Open Filters and toggle off Legendaries and Mythicals. Many randomizer runs exclude legendaries from the wild encounter pool, so this option lets you simulate that setting accurately.

How is this different from the Universal Pokémon Randomizer?

The Universal Pokémon Randomizer (UPR) is a desktop app that modifies your ROM file directly. This tool is a web-based planner — it lets you preview and simulate what randomized encounters might look like, build a practice team, and export it to Pokémon Showdown. No ROM required.
